Does anyone know how to tell if the car came with a fan clutch or not? I know the bolts are wrong above.
I had to take a double take when I took off the water pump and thermostat. Waterpump marked E1 and the thermostat looks original too. You can tell she sat for a while at one time with a the crystallization. The pump's channels look really clean.

a little too much play for me..lol 5/8 slack on both sides....oops

Looks like she is the original block.

Motor is pulled and heads are off. Pistons are quite clean considering the age. Once the engine is on a stand and the trans comes out, ill start on the engine bay. If anyone needs details on anything let me know and I will post more pictures.

Well the motor, intake, and heads are at the machine shop getting cleaned and inspected for a possible rebuild. It ran really well so I hope he won't find any major issues.
in the mean time the trans came out so I can clean her up for the rebuilt 4.2.

Well I got a call from the machine shop to come down and discuss what route to take on this 255. Since I do have all the parts for this 255 and I don't need a high horsepower car, I decided to get her bored 30 over and port out the heads to help it breath a little better. Here is some pics of the block after a bath and a mag check to make sure it could be rebuilt.

I have been framing the basement lately to keep the Mrs happy and the 82 is getting neglected till today.

I was wondering why I had a hard time bleeding the brakes plus it would never pump up all the way and why the car had poor braking.

You can see the yellow foam is breaking down after 32 years. Another part to add to the restoration along with a new master cylinder.

I know that these parts are not motorcraft, but they will look and do the job nicely.

I was still able to get these correct motorcraft pieces below. They will look right at home in the fresh painted engine bay. I will get more as my budget allows.

They might not be correct but they will look right at home on the fenders

She now has more compression! Boring 30 over complete and cylinder walls looking pretty. I'm getting excited!!

Engine is finally home!

As you can see the unique oval style ports only used on the 4.2L heads

Water Pump is on!

Cleaned up intake. A lot different than before.

Intake installed and torqued down.

Time to mask off and prep it for primer and paint.
