Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
I'll cave I found a 1982 GT 4.2L with only 129,000 kms on her. Black exterior with Black interior. Need some rubbing compound , a little clay bar and some elbow grease to make her gleam again. Runs like a top! Was sitting for 10 years before '08. A old man bought it brand new and passed away. His wife put it in a garage and closed the door until a family member bought it and got it back on the road till this year when the guy I bought it from got it. He only had it for a couple weeks then he had to sell it. Now she is mine. Its so cool seeing a straight original paint time capsule. I will post pictures of my progress in getting the black to shine like she is supposed to.
It came with all these. The factory TRX wheels, 10 holes with newer tires and 4 near new winter tires for the 10 holes.
Here you go FOXCHASSIS this picture is for you.

They will work now. The other t-top coupe is smoked in the driver's rear 1/4 and he want like 5 grand for it. So I bought this time capsule. So far I put a new fuel and air filter, oil is still clear but I bought a new filter any ways. New ground wire and serpentine belt. Next will be new wires(has original 82 wires on it) and new plugs with cap and rotor. Then I will continue with the rubbing compound and clay barring.

I need to find some 4 lug wheels for it. Two of the metric tires are shot. Don't you still have a set Trev?

Re: Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
how many 10 holes did you get with it? 2 or 4?
i may have sold my last set, i just have to dismount the tires, a guy at work wants them for a extra set unless he backs out

Hey Blaine..I'm confused...the front of the car looks like a '82, as well as the rear...did some early production runs still look like this?

Nothing like getting 29 year old paint back to life with a little rubbing compound and clay bar.
I went down to Medicine Hat for the weekend and took the ten hole rims/tires and the 4 winter tires I got with the car. I went over to Taylors used tires to get a nice set of used wheels if he had them and low and behold he had a perfect set of TRX wheels with near new tires on them. I wheeled and dealed and I got him to trade straight across. Now I have 8 TRX rims and six like new tires. SCORE!!

I have insurance but I need to finish replacing the rear tail light lens. I also am in the process of taking the head liner in somewhere to get redone. I heard there was a good guy in Coledale that does them. I also want to get dual exhaust on her but I am waiting on some headers I picked up on line.

Re: Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
Rear bumper wet sanded to get out runs from previous spray paint touch ups to cover the yellow coming through. I tried to keep the original painted stripes but it didn't work. The budget repair cost me $40.00 to paint the whole cover and put stripes back on. What do you think?
Now I have carb issues. Bowl is over flowing and flooding the car out. WTF

I dug through the garbage and scanned the stripe package.
I took out the front seats and vacuumed the floor. The carpet is very clean and no need for shampooing.
Thanks to member aidanfancystang I got a pair of BBK headers and the correct fog lamp switch.
Last but not least the used tail lens is in and the rear is complete.

Re: Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
Seats are back in with some decent seat covers. Now I need to find a good upholsterer or buy a new headliner so I can get the interior done and get to the engine bay.

Here are the seat covers. not too shabby for covers
While I wait for the new headliner to arrive I am digging into the engine bay and cleaning. I can tell the car sat fo a while with the amount of crystallized oil under the valve covers and on the head.
EWWW!!
One side clean
Before
After
Still need to clean this side.
I made this attachment for my vaccuum. Worked great for getting into the small areas.
This fan is on the car. Can anyone tell me if this is correct for the 4.2L/255 V8? It says 79 standard written on it.

Re: Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
Time to clean and paint. Sorry I didn't take more pictures. I know the intake and block is supposed to be blue but I had the paint. I am going to get the valve covers powdercoated the correct blue if they have it.
Before
After (with new motocraft cap and rotor)
Nice prepped valve covers after a couple hours of sanding getting all the surface pits and rust off.
I am currently modding the BBK headers so they will fit by the steering shaft. Nothing a little hammer won't fix.

Re: Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
Here is a mock up of what it will look like...maybe. The valve cover paint said "Red Fire" and it looks like a copper penny. What is everyone's opinion on the color? I like it but I don't. I could not find the right blue for the valve covers and this paint self etches and doesn't require a engine primer. I plan on using black ford racing wires with it.

I thought that right away Trev. I am not sure on them. I couldn't find the VHT ford engine blue that I wanted. I might go red to match the stripes.

Re: Hello my name is Blaine and I like Mustangs........
I redid the covers in Ford Engine Red which is really close to the red stripes on the car. They look kinda orange in the picture but they are red. They definitely look better in red.
